Cyberabad police have registered a case against YouTuber Harsha Sai for allegedly promoting online betting apps. The information was confirmed by Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) Managing Director and IPS officer V.C. Sajjanar, who addressed the issue on Twitter.
As reported by NTV Telugu, Sajjanar criticized social media influencers who endorse betting platforms, stating that such activities negatively impact young people. “These individuals earn money by promoting betting apps, which can lead to financial losses for users. They then present themselves as social workers by making donations. It is important to consider whether they are contributing positively to society. Betting apps can have economic consequences, and people should be cautious. If anyone has faced losses due to such apps, they should report it to the nearest police station,” he stated.
Harsha Sai’s association with betting app promotions has been discussed online, with Sajjanar actively raising awareness about potential risks. He has advised young people to avoid such platforms and clarified that his efforts are focused on addressing the broader issue rather than targeting individuals.
The promotion of betting apps has been a widely debated topic in the Telugu-speaking states, with several social media influencers facing scrutiny. IPS officer Sajjanar has called for action against those who promote online gambling.
Recently, multiple cases have been registered against social media influencers in connection with betting app promotions. Visakhapatnam police arrested content creator “Local Boy” Nani, while Bhayya Sunny Yadav from Suryapet district also faced legal action. In response to increased enforcement, some influencers have started removing betting-related promotional content from their social media accounts.
Authorities continue to monitor online betting promotions, emphasizing the need for responsible digital content and consumer awareness.
