Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his wife, Dhanashree Verma, are set to part ways legally. While there were reports claiming that Chahal would pay ₹60 crore as alimony, the actual amount is much lower. According to court records, Chahal will pay ₹4.75 crore to Dhanashree as part of their divorce settlement.
Alimony Payment Details
Chahal and Dhanashree filed for divorce on February 5, 2024, based on mutual consent. Their agreement stated that Chahal would pay ₹4.75 crore as a one-time alimony amount. However, there was confusion regarding the payment timeline.
On February 20, the family court denied their request to waive the six-month cooling-off period. The court pointed out that Chahal had only paid ₹2.37 crore so far. The remaining amount was to be paid later, as per the agreement.
High Court’s Decision
The couple then approached the Bombay High Court, requesting to remove the waiting period. The court reviewed the case and ruled that there was no pending dispute regarding alimony. The agreement allowed Chahal to pay the second installment after the divorce was finalized.
Considering this, the High Court approved their request and asked the family court to finalize the divorce by tomorrow.
Clearing the Misconception
Many reports suggested that Chahal would pay ₹60 crore as alimony. However, this information is false. The actual amount agreed upon is ₹4.75 crore, as confirmed by court documents.
With the legal process almost complete, both Chahal and Dhanashree will now move forward separately.
