BCCI to Take Disciplinary Action Against Hardik Pandya for Umpire Outburst in DC vs MI

Mumbai Indians (MI) captain Hardik Pandya finds himself in hot water with the BCCI after an outburst directed at the umpires during their IPL 2024 match against the Delhi Capitals.

It all happened during the middle overs when Hardik Pandya, stationed at long-on, became upset with Rishabh Pant taking what he perceived as an excessive amount of time before facing deliveries.

The Mumbai Indians captain reportedly shouted at the umpire, who acknowledged the situation and pointed to his watch. Unsatisfied with the response, Pandya returned to his fielding position visibly frustrated.

This outburst is likely to result in a fine from the BCCI. Pandya is already under scrutiny for his team’s slow over rate, having been fined 12 lakh rupees for a previous offense.

Hardik Pandya has been fined INR 12 lakh for the first slow over-rate offence, and a second penalty of INR 24 lakh may lead to his suspension. The captain’s third slow over-rate offence carries a one-match ban.
