Virat Kohli in post-match conversation

Virat Kohli silenced his doubters in emphatic fashion on Sunday, anchoring a brilliant run chase to propel Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to a nine-wicket victory over Gujarat Titansin the 45th match of IPL 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Virat Kohli smashed an unbeaten 70 runs from 44 balls, including six boundaries and three sixes. What stood out was his fearless approach against the spinners, which is typically seen as his weakness.

Moreover, there has been a lot of talk about his strike rate lately, but Virat Kohli fired back, saying it’s easy to critique from the commentary box. He emphasized that for him, the team always comes first, and he always does what’s best for the team.

Here’s what Virat Kohli said in the post-match conference:

“Not really, all the people who talk about strike-rates and me not playing spin well are the ones talking about this stuff. For me, it’s about winning the games for the team and there’s a reason why you’ve done it for 15 years, you’ve done this day in and day out, you’ve won games for your teams, I’m not quite sure that if you haven’t been in that situation yourself, to sit and talk about the game from the box.”

“For me, people can talk about their assumptions day in and day out, but those who have done day in and day out, they know what’s happening and it’s a kind of muscle memory for me now.”

Royal Challengers Bengaluru now have three victories out of the 10 matches they have played so far in the tournament. However, they are still languishing at the bottom of the points table and need to win all the remaining games to stay in the playoffs race.
