Rajasthan Royals skipper Sanju Samson was penalized 30% of his match fees for arguing with the umpires regarding his debatable dismissal against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Tuesday.

Samson was leading the charge for the Royals towards a convincing victory with his 86 runs, chasing a target of 222. However, his innings came to an end when DC bowler Mukesh Kumar dismissed him while attempting to hit over long-on.

Shai Hope managed to hold on to the catch just inside the boundary. The umpires thoroughly reviewed the catch before eventually giving the RR skipper out.

However, Samson was visibly unhappy with the decision, claiming that Shai Hope had made contact with the boundary. This disagreement escalated into a heated argument with the umpires.

Although RR couldn’t secure a victory, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) levied a hefty penalty on the Royals’ wicket-keeper for breaking the BCCI code of conduct.
