Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka lashed out at skipper KL Rahul after the visitors were thrashed by the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the recent IPL 2024 match by 10 wickets at the Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday, May 8th.

Goenka was seen having an animated chat with the captain, the video of which went viral on social media. Fans are unhappy with the treatment Sanjiv Goenka gave KL Rahul, believing it should have been handled privately, perhaps behind the scenes or in the dressing room.

“Just saw wht hppnd btwn KL & Goenka. Players & owners falling out isn’t new, there have been numerous such examples over the last 16 yrs bt probably the 1st time it’s caught on camera. Not done man … players also have emotions & it’s not like they are underperforming on purpose,” a X user wrote.

“You spent thousands of crores all good,you got the right be angry at players performance but just drag him inside the dressing room & do it… Just bcoz that guy is nice & he hardly behv rude, doesn’t mean u make him stand in the ground & blast at him when u know cam’s are around,” another X user wrote.

After winning the toss, LSG captain KL Rahul chose to bat first, but his team managed only 165/4 on the scoreboard, despite a solid half-century by Ayush Badoni (55*) and an unbeaten 48 by Nicholas Pooran. Rahul played a 29-run knock from 33 balls.

In response, SRH openers Travis Head (89) and Abhishek Sharma (75) put on a record-breaking unbroken partnership of 167 runs in just 9.4 overs, securing a 10-wicket victory with 62 balls to spare.

With this win, Sunrisers Hyderabad now have 14 points from 12 matches, while LSG, with the same number of matches, have 12 points, but their net run-rate suffered a huge blow.
