Former Australia captain, Tim Paine has been named the head coach of the Adelaide Strikers for the next season of the Big Bash League (BBL 14).
The former Australian captain is currently working with NT Strike in the Top End T20 series and served as an assistant coach to Adam Voges for Australia A last season.
Paine has also been involved in developing the Under-19 team and the women’s squad. He had previously shown interest in the BBL coaching position, especially if the roles for men’s coaching were to be divided.
Challenges Ahead for Tim Paine
Adelaide Strikers ended last season on a high note with four straight wins, earning a place in the finals. They overcame the defending champions, Perth Scorchers, in the Knockout but were defeated by the eventual champions, Brisbane Heat, in the Challenger.
As head coach, Tim Paine’s first significant task will be to oversee the BBL draft on September 1, alongside the Strikers’ captain Matt Short. The team has secured draft picks 5, 11, 20, and 29, with no pre-draft signings confirmed yet.
