Preity Zinta Slams Media for Fake News, Says 'Don't Want Rohit as Captain, I Love My Team’

Preity Zinta, one of the co-owners of Punjab Kings, has cleared the rumours of her having a conversation with Rohit Sharma regarding the future captaincy of Punjab Kings.

There were reports last week that Preity Zinta had said that she would bet her life to pick Rohit Sharma in the mega auction next year and appoint him as the captain of the team.

However, Preity Zinta, on Friday, took to Twitter to clear the air, stating that all the reports published were fake, and she never said that. Here is what she wrote:

“#Fakenews ! All these articles are completely fake & baseless. I hold Rohit Sharma in very high regard & am a big fan of his, but I have NEVER DISCUSSED him in any interview nor made this STATEMENT ! I also have a lot of respect for Shikhar Dhawan & he being currently injured , makes these articles appear in very poor taste.”

“These articles are a perfect example of how misinformation is picked up without any verification & circulated online. I humbly request all Media to refrain from circulating this & embarrassing all concerned parties 🙏 All I want to say is that we have a great team currently & our only focus is to win games & make the most out of #IPL2024 Thank you.”

Notably, Shikhar Dhawan has been on the sidelines for the last two games of the Punjab Kings due to injury, and in his absence, Sam Curran is leading the team. They have lost five out of the seven matches they have played so far in the tournament, winning just two games.
