The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has opted to delay announcing their final T20 World Cup 2024 squad until the very last minute, citing fitness concerns and performance issues with several key players.

This decision by PCB means the official squad announcement will likely take place before May 25 – the ICC’s deadline for teams to make changes in their preliminary squad without requiring special permission.

PCB To Monitor Performances

PCB will monitor the fitness and form of the Pakistan players like Mohammad Rizwan, Azam Khan, Irfan Khan Niazi, and Haris Rauf, who are currently battling minor injuries.

Their performance during the upcoming tours of Ireland and England will be closely observed before finalizing the World Cup roster.

However, a PCB source emphasized that this delay holds no strategic disadvantage:

“All teams can change their entire squad by 24th May, after that changes can only be allowed on fitness or injury basis with approval of the technical committee.”

Meanwhile, the other major cricketing nations like India, Australia, England, South Africa, and New Zealand have already revealed their squads. However, they can still make changes in their squad till May 25.
