Manish Pandey

Manish Pandey finally got his chance to bat in IPL 2024 for Kolkata Knight Riders, and he did not disappoint. Coming in as an impact substitute player against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium, he formed a crucial 83-run partnership with Venkatesh Iyer for the fifth wicket.

Pandey showcased his touch with a brilliant 42 runs off just 31 balls, including a boundary and a six off the highly-regarded Jasprit Bumrah in a single over. This feat makes him the only Indian batter to achieve this against Bumrah since 2023.

Pandey’s contribution was vital in helping KKR post a competitive total. More importantly, KKR went on to defeat Mumbai Indians by 24 runs. This victory marks the first time in 12 years that Kolkata Knight Riders have managed to conquer Mumbai Indians at their home ground, the Wankhede Stadium.

From this point forward, Mumbai Indians’ chances of making the playoffs appear slim to none, while Kolkata Knight Riders sit comfortably in second place with seven wins out of 10 matches.
