The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is strategizing to counter a potential scheduling conflict with the Indian Premier League (IPL) that could impact player availability for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 10.

Players Availability

With Pakistan hosting the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in February-March, PSL 10 is slated to take place in April-May, potentially overlapping with the IPL window. This overlap raises concerns about the availability of top international players for the PSL.

To address this challenge, the PCB, in collaboration with PSL franchises, is planning to designate 6-12 “marquee players” who will be guaranteed participation in the league. These players will be included in the player draft’s platinum category.

These marquee players will be offered a significantly higher salary cap, potentially reaching US$350,000-400,000, nearly double the standard platinum player salary in the PSL. This increased financial incentive aims to attract the biggest names in cricket and acquire their services.

Taking PSL Playoffs Overseas

Furthermore, the PCB is considering holding the PSL 10 playoffs at overseas venues in England, potentially at iconic stadiums like Manchester, Birmingham, or The Oval. This move leverages England’s cricketing prowess and the presence of the PSL’s main broadcaster in the country.
