Delhi Police Arrest AAP Supporters for Pro-Kejriwal Slogans in Stadium During DC vs RR Match

A group of people were taken into custody during the recent IPL 2024 match between Delhi Capitals and Rajasthan Royals on May 6 for shouting slogans in support of the imprisoned Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

According to Delhi Police, the fans were detained at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. The arrested people were wearing yellow T-shirts bearing Kejriwal’s photo behind bars. The Aam Aadmi Party also posted a video of the group chanting slogans during the match.

“Our personnel are stationed at various locations within the stadium. We have detained several individuals for causing public disturbance. They are being held in custody accordingly and will be released following legal procedures. We urge all fans to enjoy the game without engaging in such behaviour within the stadium,” said Delhi Police as reported by the news agency ANI.

As for the match, Delhi Capitals secured a 20-run victory over Rajasthan Royals, marking their sixth win of the season and keeping their playoff aspirations alive. Currently, four teams, Lucknow Super Giants, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, and Chennai Super Kings, are tied at 12 points.
