Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul may relinquish his role for the last two games of the IPL 2024 season to focus solely on batting.

LSG faced an embarrassing 10-wicket defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Thursday in a must-win game at the Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad.

After the match, a video of LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka lashing out at KL Rahul went viral on social media.

With only two games remaining, LSG must win both to stay in the playoff hunt. However, their fate also depends on the outcomes of other teams’ matches to secure a top-four spot.

“There is a five-day gap before the next game against Delhi Capitals. No decision has been taken, but it is understood that if Rahul plans to concentrate solely on his batting for the remaining two games, the management won’t mind,” an IPL source told PTI on condition of anonymity.

KL Rahul has scored 460 runs in 12 games and is on track to surpass the 500-run mark for the season. However, his strike-rate of 136.09 remains a concern.
