In the next season of SA20, there’s a possibility of implementing the impact substitute rule, as reported by Cricbuzz. This follows the successful implementation of the impact substitute rule in the IPL.

With the ‘Impact Player’ concept, teams have the option to select a 12th player who can enter the game as a substitute at any time.

The meeting will take place after the ICC releases their updated playing conditions, typically published on October 1. If approved, the SA20 could undergo a similar revolution to what’s seen in the IPL.

While the impact player rule has added excitement to the game, many players are unhappy as they believe that it may hinder the development of all-rounders in T20 cricket.

Both SA20 seasons have been a success, with Sunrisers Eastern Cape emerging as champions in both.
