Pakistan was narrowly beaten by New Zealand’s second-string side by just four runs on April 25 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. With this loss, New Zealand takes a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

Pakistan played without two of their top fast bowlers, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah, in this match. Captain Babar Azam has now given an explanation for their absence.

In the post-match conference, Babar Azam revealed that they are testing their bench strength ahead of the much-anticipated T20 World Cup 2024. Hence, they tried a different bowling combination against New Zealand in the fourth T20I.

Here’s what Babar Azam said in the post-match conference:

“Our plan was to test our bench strength and we tried out different combinations. We are trying something new and different in every game. Hopefully, we will be settled before going to the T20 World Cup.”

After suffering back-to-back defeats against New Zealand’s B team, the Pakistan cricket team is under fire from trolls. They have one match left, and if they fail to win, they will lose the series.
