Mumbai Indians clinched a nail-biting nine-run victory against the Punjab Kings in the 33rd match of the IPL 2024 at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur on Thursday, April 18.

Mumbai Indians smashed 192/7 in 20 overs, with Suryakumar Yadav leading the charge. Then they cleaned up Punjab Kings for 183 in the last over. Ashutosh Sharma’s 61 off 28 balls nearly turned the tables, but his exit let Mumbai breathe easy.

Even after Ashutosh got out, Mumbai Indians were sweating bullets as Punjab Kings needed just 12 runs off six balls to seal the deal. Skipper Hardik Pandya handed the ball to Akash Madhwal for the last over. Just before Medhwal started bowling, 5-6 Mumbai Indians were huddled up, chatting with him.

A video went viral showing Akash Madhwal seeking fielding advice from Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya. Interestingly, Madhwal seemed more interested in Rohit’s suggestions, ignoring the MI skipper. While Madhwal was deep in discussion with Rohit about field placements, Hardik was also trying to get his point across.

In another clip, even Jasprit Bumrah was spotted getting involved in the discussion but again, the MI captain was completely left out.

However, Akash Medhwal and the Mumbai Indians pulled off a perfect final over, with Ishan Kishan running Kagiso Rabada out on the very first ball, securing a nine-run win for the visitors. Jasprit Bumrah slammed the brakes on Punjab Kings’ run-chase in the 17th over, giving away just three runs.
