T20 World Cup 2024 Trophy

The long-awaited ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is coming to the United States and the West Indies, with the opening match between co-hosts USA and Canada set to ignite the Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas on June 2nd.

The cricket pitches bound for use in the United States have travelled over 14,000 miles, making their way from Adelaide, Australia, to Florida by ship. Notably, the US is set to host a major cricket tournament for the first time, with venues across New York, Texas, and Florida.

Furthermore, the preparation for the biennial tournament requires huge effort, especially in meticulously planning and preparing cricket pitches. The US will host 16 games out of 55, with the remaining 39 games scheduled in the Caribbean nations.

Damian Hough, the pitch curator at Adelaide Oval, has been given the task of growing pitches in Australia and overseeing their transportation to the tournament venues in the US. He emphasized their aim of creating pitches that offer consistent pace and bounce.

Bringing an ICC event to US soil for the first time, fans will witness the most anticipated cricket rivalry later this year. Long-standing rivals India and Pakistan will face off on June 9th in New York.
